a surprise bathroom renovation

It’s time to talk about my bathroom! I’ve been silent for the past few days, but not because I haven’t been working. John has been out of town, and I wanted to surprise him with this reno, and I couldn’t do that and still post about it on the internet. So here are some before pictures of my bathroom. I painted the bathroom yellow when we first moved in. I didn’t want to, but I was trying to work with the pre existing tile. I hated the tile from the very beginning, but it was in decent shape and I didn’t want to take the time to remove it and redo it.

The other problem the bathroom had when we first moved in was the sink. Originally the bathroom has a pedestal sink, which you can see here pictured in my garden. The sink had a huge crack in it and had to be replaced. The bathroom has no storage, so I wanted a vanity. The issue was the pipe you see on the wall, and the pipes that go to the tub. Premade vanities come in regular sizes that increase by four inches. We had to go extra small because one size up hit the pipes by about an inch. I hated the thing from the beginning. First, the gap allowed things to fall behind it. Second, the door opened the wrong way. But I was willing to live with this. But a few weeks ago, John made a comment about how annoying it was to shave in such a small space. I decided it was finally time to do something about this bathroom.
